Poet Shirt Sewing Pattern
Inspired by the typical 18th century mens shirt The Poet Shirt is an oversized smock style shirt with billowy sleeves, a V neck, collar, and side vents.
Includes sizes:
USA Women’s 0-12
UK/AUS Women’s 4-16
*though sizes are labeled in women’s sizing, going one size up will give you the equivalent mens size.
For this project you will need 6 buttons and at least 2.5 meters/2.7 yards of fabric. A wove fabric like cotton, linen, hemp or muslin is recommended.
*This sewing pattern comes with step by step instructions and is suitable for medium level sewers. It involves gathering fabric at the sleeves, and attaching the sleeve to an arms eye with a yoke at the shoulder. If these are techniques that are new to you, it is recommended that you practise on some scrap fabric first.
THE PATTERN PIECES DO NOT INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCE.
Use whatever seam allowance you prefer to work with.
